Sanjeev Saini

Senior Manager, IDDS Team Lead, India

Sanjeev is an expert in infectious diseases including global health security and tuberculosis (TB) with more than 20 years of experience. As the India team lead for USAID’s Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) project, Sanjeev works to strengthen diagnostic networks and health systems, support antimicrobial resistance containment, and bolster TB control efforts in India. His work includes strategic leadership and technical support for TB and global health security programs focused on developing strategic policy documents, introducing the latest World Health Organization (WHO)-recommended molecular diagnostics, strengthening strategic TB laboratory institutions, and implementing scalable health interventions. Sanjeev is also focused on developing innovative and strategic approaches to demonstrate public-private partnership, optimizing the functionality of existing diagnostic networks, and accelerating equitable access to, scale-up of, and adoption of innovative and market-based, high-impact health solutions.

Previously, Sanjeev was a senior diagnostics advisor for IDDS. Prior to that, he engaged in a managerial and advisory capacity with India’s national programs such as the National TB Elimination Program, National AIDS Control Program, and Integrated Disease Surveillance Program, as well as with non-governmental organizations, namely FIND and the INCLEN Trust International. He has experience managing public health projects funded by multilateral donors, such as USAID, the Global Fund, World Bank, WHO, and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Sanjeev is a medical microbiologist by training with a doctorate degree from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi. He holds certifications in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189:2012 standards as an internal auditor, global health diagnostics, and antimicrobial resistance. He is fluent in Hindi and English and has working proficiency in Spanish.
